Eat Green and Leafy Vegetables
Lutein and Zeaxanthin are the carotenoids which reduce the risk of developing cataracts and macular degeneration and it is easily found in kale, collard greens, Spinach and other green leafy vegetables.
The antioxidants are essential for eyes health and it is found in berries, oranges, cherries etc. It helps in reduce the free radicals which are caused by pollution and direct sunlight damage. It also reduces the symptoms of cataracts and macular degeneration.
In a study it is proved that multivitamin is really important for eyes health. The vitamin C and E, antioxidants, copper, zinc and beta-carotene reduce the risk of macular degeneration in high risk patients. In another study it is proved that vitamin B6 and B12 reduce the risk of cataracts.
Omega 3 Fatty Acids
We heard that omega 3 is good for heart healthy but it is also good for eyes health. Omega 3 fatty acids easily found in salmon and tuna fish. Omega 3 fatty acid protects the tear film, minimizes the dry eyes and protects cataracts.
Carrots are healthy for eyes health because a carrot contains beta-carotene which help in reduce the risk of developing cataracts and macular degeneration. There are some other like pumpkin, butternut and squash also contains beta-carotene.
Whenever you go outside in sunlight, always wear sunglasses because it protect your eyes from ultra violet light (or UV Light) which is major cause of the hardening of lenses, cataracts and macular degeneration.
In a recent study it is found that aerobics exercise like jogging, walking, cycling and yoga reduce the risk of glaucoma by decrease pressure in the eyes. So experts say, do aerobics exercise in daily routine. The aerobics exercise does not keep your eyes healthy but it keeps your body healthy.
